SC campus workers rally to support Longshoremen, fight back against attacks on working class
South Carolina's United Campus Workers rallied at the State House to support the ILA Local 1422 in their fight to defend union jobs at the Hugh Leatherman terminal in the Port of Charleston. Members of UCW-CWA Local 3765, service workers, steel workers, electrical workers, faith leaders, elected officials, and community members joined with Charleston’s dockworkers - a pillar of South Carolina’s working class and Black community - to reject Gov. McMaster’s attacks on workers rights in South Carolina.
Governor Henry McMaster's attempt to break the master contract - which guarantees that union labor must be employed at the new port - is not just an attack on the Longshoremen and their families: it is an attack on all working people in the state of South Carolina.
United Campus Workers stand with ILA 1422 in this struggle, which is a fight for the entire working class. An injury to one is an injury to all!
